The Kansas Corporation Commission opened a proceeding to consider implementation of recent changes in Kansas telecommunications law.

When a major carrier disputes your Switched Access bills, it can be intimidating. Not that these carriers intentionally come across that way -- I’ve seen plenty of very polite correspondence on the subject from the large carriers. And to be fair, sometimes their skepticism about CLEC access rates is warranted. Not every CLEC has always made sure its access services are properly priced, tariffed, and billed.

TMI is closely monitoring the wave of switched access tariff filings that implement the second phase of the FCC’s ICC/USF Reform. So far, we have ILEC filings in 20
states. Our in-house team is continuously busy tracking filings across all jurisdictions and at the FCC.
The North Carolina Utilities Commission established a deadline for filing revised access rates. ILECs must file revised tariffs and certain CLECs must file notarized affidavits regarding the rate revisions required by the FCC’s ICC/USF reform order no later than June 10, 2013. The rate changes must be effective July 2, 2013.

The State Corporation Commission of Kansas established procedures to be used in making the July 2013, ICC/USF reform tariff filings. CLECs required to make intrastate access rate adjustments must file their revised intrastate access tariffs and supporting documentation by June 14, 2013.
