NARUC Considers Telecom Related Resolutions at Annual Meeting

The National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners is expected to consider three telecommunications-related resolutions at its annual meeting November 17 - 20, 2013. The resolutions address slamming, surveillance programs, and federalism. The draft resolutions will not become official NARUC policy until they are approved by the NARUC Board. Number of Wireless-Only Households Increases 2.4%

A recent survey shows that the number of American homes that only have wireless telephones has
grown 2.4% since the first half of 2012. Now, nearly two in every five American homes (38.2%) only have wireless telephones. In addition, nearly one of every six American homes (15.9%) received all or almost all calls on wireless telephones despite also having a landline telephone.

NARUC Telecom Task Force Releases Draft Report

The National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners (NARUC) Task Force on Federalism and Telecommunications released its draft report on 6/10/13. The Task Force is seeking to establish a stronger, more cooperative relationship between federal and State regulators to ensure that communications services remain reliable, affordable, and available to all.
