California – Governor Announces Funds to Support Distance Learning; Directed State Agencies to Bridge Digital Divide

Governor announced that every eligible local educational agency in California has applied for and is View of the downtown skyline  and San Francisco - Oakland Bay Bridge, from Coit Tower in San Francisco, California.receiving a portion of the $5.3 billion in learning loss mitigation funds secured through the state budget he signed in June.

FCC Commissioner Jessica Rosenworcel announced the release of a new episode of her podcast, Broadband Conversations.  The newest episode features NASA Astronaut Kate Rubins. In 2016, Kate spent 115 days in space aboard the International Space Station. She completed two space walks—for a total of almost 13 hours of spacewalk time. She has a doctorate in cancer biology from Stanford University Medical School and was the first person to sequence DNA on space. Listeners will get to hear Kate describe how she became an astronaut, how being “off planet” gave her a new perspective on the world, and what its like working in zero gravity. Read More

A new law in Arkansas will allow a government entity, on its own or in partnership with a private entity, to apply for funding under a program for grants or loans to be used for the construction, acquisition, or leasing of facilities, land, or buildings used to deploy broadband service in unserved areas.
