Arkansas CapitalArkansas Governor Announces $25 Million in Broadband Grant Funding

The Governor of Arkansas has announced “Arkansas Rural Connect,” a new $25 million grant program within the Arkansas State Broadband Office. Governor Hutchinson made the announcement while speaking to the Arkansas Sheriff’s Association in Rogers.  The goal is to provide high-speed broadband to rural communities throughout Arkansas by 2022, as outlined in the State Broadband Plan released in May.

Dome and flag US CapUS House Passes Stopping Bad Robocalls Act

The US House of Representatives yesterday passed the Stopping Bad Robocalls Act, HR 3375, by a sweeping 429-3 vote.  In response to the passage of the bill, Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-NJ), Ranking Member Greg Walden (R-OR), Communications and Technology Subcommittee Chairman Mike Doyle (D-PA) and Communications and Technology Subcommittee Ranking Member Bob Latta (R-OH) released the following statement: “Today, the House of Representatives voted to restore Americans’ confidence in the telephone system and put consumers back in charge of their phones.

Virgin Islands Granted Waiver to Conduct Wireless Emergency Alert Test

The FCC’s Public Safety and Homeland Security Bureau issued an order granting a limited waiver allowing Emergency Alert System (EAS) Participants and Participating Commercial Mobile Service (CMS) Providers to participate in a test to be conducted by the Virgin Islands Territorial Emergency Management Agency.  The test will be conducted on March 14, 2019 at 10:00 A.M. Atlantic Standard Time.
