The FCC’s Enforcement Bureau recently announced a $48 million settlement with T- Mobile to resolve an investigation into whether the company failed to adequately disclose speed and data restrictions associated with its unlimited data plan. See the Regulatory Mix dated 10/20/16.

Open Internet Rule Small Business Exemption
The FCC’s Consumer and Governmental Affairs Bureau (Bureau) extended the temporary small business provider exemption from the Open Internet Enhanced Transparency Rule to December 15, 2016.

The FCC announced that it will hold a series of staff-led Open Internet Roundtable Discussions in September and October. The roundtables will be open to the public and streamed live at http://www.fcc.gov/live. The schedule is as follows:

The FCC released an Enforcement Advisory in connection with its Open Internet (Net Neutrality) rules. The Advisory reminds broadband providers of their responsibility under the Transparency Rule to provide consumers with accurate information about the services they offer. The FCC also released a companion Consumer Guide, and a statement by FCC Chair Tom Wheeler emphasizing that the FCC intends to enforce the Transparency Rule.
