U.S. Senator Ron Wyden, D-Ore., introduced sweeping new privacy legislation, the Mind Your Own Business Act, which he says will create the strongest-ever protections for Americans’ private data and to hold accountable the corporate executives responsible for abusing consumers’ information.

In a press release, US Senators Marco Rubio (R-FL) and Gary Peters (D-MI) announced that they introduced The Small Business Cybersecurity Assistance Act of 2019, which aims to better educate small businesses on cybersecurity through counselors and resources offered at Small Business Development Centers (SBDCs).  Specifically, the bill directs the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) to become a cybersecurity clearinghouse by consolidating and managing federal government cybersecurity materials so small businesses can easily access information in one place.

FTC-2-3FTC Charges Telemarketer for Making Illegal and Unsolicited Calls

The FTC issued a press release advising that it has charged a telemarketing operation and its owners with making millions of illegal, unsolicited calls about educational programs to consumers who submitted their contact information to websites promising help with job searches, public benefits, and other unrelated programs.
