Today's Regulatory Mix:  USDA Announces South Carolina and Nevada Broadband Grants, California Attorney General Urges Congress Not to Preempt CCPA 

 

USDA LogoUSDA Announces South Carolina and Nevada Broadband Grants 

The USDA announced two new broadband investments.  The first is a $9.1 million investment in high-speed broadband infrastructure that will create or improve e-Connectivity for 6,251 homes in rural Kershaw County, South Carolina.  The second is a $2.3 million investment in a high-speed broadband infrastructure project that will create or improve rural e-Connectivity for 273 households, seven farms, seven businesses and a critical community facility in eastern Nevada.

The California Department of Justice (Department) released an updated notice of modifications on its website listing changes that were made to the proposed regulations regarding the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA).

CA Capitol_Arial_0296California Attorney General Releases Proposed CCPA Regulations  

In a press release, the Attorney General of California announced the release of proposed regulations under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA).  The law mandates that on or before July 1, 2020, the Office of the Attorney General promulgate and adopt implementing regulations for the CCPA.  Comments on the proposed regulations may be submitted by December 6, 2019.  The Attorney General will also hold four public hearings.
