On January 15, 2020, Inteserra issued a Briefing to our service subscribers that explained details of the TRACED Act that has become law. The new federal law addressing robocalling known as the TRACED Act was enacted on December 30, 2019. The Act requires the implementation of STIR/SHAKEN by no later than June 30, 2021, (unless providers have already implemented it) but also requires the FCC to extend the implementation deadline under certain circumstances, including for providers using TDM Networks.

FCC To Review Robocall Blocking Options  

FCC Chairman Ajit Pai announced the FCC will begin a study of unwanted-call blocking services available to consumers.  “As the FCC continues to pull out all the stops to protect consumers against scam robocalls and spoofing, we expect phone companies and others to make effective tools available to consumers so they can block unwanted and fraudulent calls,” said Chairman Pai. “This report will help us better understand where we stand on call blocking and how the actions we’ve taken to date have worked.”

Mississippi Charges Five Telemarketers for No-Call Violations

The Mississippi PSC announced that it has charged five companies that made 442 illegal calls.  Should these entities be found to have violated the No-Call law, they are subject to a $5,000 per call fine; totaling $2,210,000.  Notices of alleged violations were recently filed against the companies.
