According to a ruling released by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), state government callers, like federal government callers, are not ‘‘persons’’ under the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA).  These government callers are not required to obtain the prior express consent of called parties.

USDA Announces End of Round One for ReConnect Program with Iowa Award

fa-policy-usda-building-1USDA Secretary Sonny Perdue announced that USDA is investing more than $500,000 to provide broadband service in unserved and underserved rural areas in Iowa. This investment is part of USDA’s round one investments through the ReConnect Pilot Program.

The FCC has directed  certain cable operators to respond to a price survey questionnaire designed to solicit information concerning rates for basic service, cable programming service, and equipment used to receive such services.   The information will be used for its statutorily required report on cable industry prices.

At its June 18, 2015, Open Meeting, the FCC adopted a Declaratory Ruling and Order resolving 21 requests for FCC action about the application of the Telephone Consumer Protection Act to various scenarios.
