Debate Heats Up Over Proposed Net Neutrality Rules

The debate over FCC Chairman Wheeler’s proposal for new Open Internet (a/k/a Net Neutrality) rules became more animated today as both of his fellow Democratic Commissioners called on him to either delay or revisit his proposal.  That proposal is scheduled to be considered at the FCC’s May 15, 2014, Open Meeting. FCC's Wheeler Defends His Position on Net Neutrality

In the face of continued negative commentary about his proposal for new Open Internet (a/k/a Net Neutrality) rules, FCC Chairman Tom Wheeler has once again taken to the blogosphere to defend his position. Calling the commentary a “misinformed interpretation” of his proposal, he offered additional details on his proposal and also addressed the potential for Title II (full common carrier) regulation of ISPs.

In response to what he characterized as “misinformation” that been reported in the press concerning the draft Open Internet Notice of Proposed Rulemaking he will circulate today to the other Commissioners, FCC Chairman Tom Wheeler posted a blog addressing the specifics of his proposal.
