The FCC announced it has awarded Armstrong Telecommunications $2,642,413 in funding over ten years to expand broadband in rural northwestern Pennsylvania.  The monies will allow Armstrong to provide broadband at speeds of at least 1 Gbps/500 Mbps to an estimated 1,949 unserved rural homes and businesses

The FCC announced it is ready to authorize Connect America Fund Phase II auction (Auction 903) support for the 1,122 Auction 903 winning bids identified on Attachment A.  To be authorized to receive the total 10-year support amounts listed the listed long-form applicants must submit acceptable irrevocable standby letter(s) of credit and Bankruptcy Code opinion letter(s) from their legal counsel for each state where they have winning bids that are ready to be authorized in accordance with the instructions provided by the FCC prior to 6:00 p.m. ET on Monday, August 5, 2019.

In response to the Senate’s passage of the Telephone Robocall Abuse Criminal Enforcement and Deterrence (TRACED) Act, which targets illegal robocalls. FCC Chairman Ajit Pai and FCC Commissioner Brendan Carr each issued statements of support. 

Chairman Pai released a statement saying, in part: “I commend the U.S. Senate for passing the TRACED Act and Senators Thune and Markey for leading this bipartisan effort. The TRACED Act would help strengthen the FCC’s ability to combat illegal robocalls, and we would welcome these additional tools to fight this scourge.
