For sure, I'm not the only one feeling how fast 2014 is coming to an end. Just the other day I overheard a couple at the grocery store telling their cashier how they saw a Christmas commercial for the first time this season. This made me realize that the Holidays are right around the corner and much preparation is in order. To that end and as it relates to compliance reporting in the telecom world, this is the time to prepare for a year-end gathering of the minds with your compliance reporting personnel to discuss plans for 2015. Past accomplishments, anticipated documents and projected changes should be at the forefront of discussions. Whether your regulatory team is comprised of internal or external experts, aggregating their invaluable knowledge and drawing on their experiences will ensure your organization will hit the ground running in 2015.

Ready to blast off? The FCC High Cost/Lifeline annual report Form 481 filings are due earlier than in prior years. This year they are due July 1, 2014. Are you an FCC-approved ETC providing High Cost/Lifeline services? Not only is there the filing at the FCC, there are individual state filing requirements as well. The FCC released a Public Notice reminding service providers and equipment manufacturers of their obligations under the FCC’s disability accessibility rules. By April 1, 2014, covered entities must complete, submit, and maintain the following three pieces of information in the “Recordkeeping Compliance Certification and Contact Information Registry” (RCCCI Registry):

FCC Form 477s must be filed very soon - March 3, 2014 to be exact. Normally due on the first of March, this year’s deadline has been extended to March 3rd. Hurray for 2 extra days! For many carriers, the broadband reporting requirement of the Form 477 is the most difficult to manage. That’s because providers are required to report detailed broadband subscriber data by US Census Tract. Reporting must be done in four broad steps:
