More Reasons Why Your FCC Form 477 Filings Are So Important

On March 30, 2016, the FCC released an order regarding Reform of the FCC’s high cost support funding for rate-of-return (ROR) carriers.  See the Regulatory Mix dated 4/4/16.  One of the FCC’s goals is to provide increased funding for deployment of 10/1 Mbps or greater broadband services in areas served by ROR carriers.

Mining Gold from your FCC Form 477

Imagine working at a company that has a detailed snapshot of its entire customer base every six months.  That snapshot includes each customer's physical location and mix of services purchased.  Oh, and throw in a snapshot of service availability for future customers.  Wouldn't that be great!  Imagine how useful that data would be to all departments for planning purposes and performance evaluation.

March 3rd - Here Comes The FCC Form 477 Data Filing Deadline Again!

FCC Form 477s must be filed very soon - March 3, 2014 to be exact. Normally due on the first of March, this year’s deadline has been extended to March 3rd. Hurray for 2 extra days! For many carriers, the broadband reporting requirement of the Form 477 is the most difficult to manage. That’s because providers are required to report detailed broadband subscriber data by US Census Tract. Reporting must be done in four broad steps:

September 1st FCC Form 477 Data Must Be Filed - Do It Electronically

September 1st is here, for all intents and purposes. For companies filing their 477 broadband reports, data summaries can be filed via the FCC 477 Electronic Filing System. The time required to manually enter data into the FCC’s 477 system can be substantial. Especially if you provide broadband service in multiple states using multiple technology types.
