The FCC has imposed a $9,997,750 fine on a San Diego-based telemarketer for making 47,610 unlawful, spoofed robocalls over a two-day period shortly before California’s 2018 primary election.

The FCC has released the adopted Forfeiture Order regarding a $37.5 million fine against Affordable Enterprises of Arizona for making more than 2.3 million unlawful spoofed telemarketing calls to Arizonans during a 14-month span starting in 2016.

The Federal Trade Commission announced its staff had sent letters to 19 VoIP service providers warning them that “assisting and facilitating” illegal telemarketing or robocalling is against the law.  The letters stress that combatting illegal telemarketing is a top priority of the Commission, with a special emphasis on stopping illegal robocalls.
