The FCC announced the approval of an additional 77 funding applications for the COVID-19 Telehealth Program. Health care providers in both urban and rural areas of the country will use this $29.41 million in funding to provide Telehealth services during the coronavirus pandemic.

TRS from shutterstockIn December 2019, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) revised the contribution rules associated with the federal Telecommunications Relay Service Fund (TRS or Fund).  Specifically, the FCC expanded the contribution base for IP captioned telephone service (IP CTS) to include intrastate only providers.

The FCC has granted Telecommunications Relay Service providers temporary waivers to better enable American Sign Language interpreters to work from home in order to maintain relay services during the current coronavirus pandemic for individuals who are deaf, hard of hearing, or deaf-blind, or have a speech disability.

VoIP Regulation: More than you thought?

As I participated in our product demonstration last week on the VoIP Requirements publication, I was reminded how diverse VoIP regulation is across the nation. The FCC and state regulatory agencies impose certain operational requirements, financial obligations, and reporting requirements on VoIP providers that can be challenging to track by jurisdiction.
