Paying it Forward in the Most Unintentional Way

Golfing has been my passion since I was in 2nd grade, as my previous blog described. Moving from Southwestern New York to Orlando was one of the best changes I ever made. I was going from an area that had two seasons, last winter and next winter, with a few good days in between. But to move to Florida as a golfer meant almost 365 days of golfing - Nirvana.

If you grew up celebrating Christmas, you remember that feeling you had as a kid when the big day arrived.  You woke up as early as possible and tried to sneak a quick peek at the tree and what was in store for you and your family. Then, if you were like my family, you had to attend church before you were able to get back home to tear into those packages, thinking how mean your parents were to not let you just open your gifts early (especially since you had been up since 3 AM).

Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack recently announced 14 awards in 8 states totaling $20.3 million for projects to bring broadband to unserved rural communities. In announcing the awards, Vilsack stated: "Access to broadband is one of the most important investments in rural communities today. These awards will help create jobs, and give rural residents greater access to educational, health care and social services."
