Gov. Eric Holcomb signed HB 1449 into law, prioritizing projects that are eligible for broadband grants from the Rural Broadband Fund and prioritizing areas that are unserved by broadband. The new law assigns the highest priority for rural broadband grants to projects that extend broadband service to areas where Internet service is unavailable

The USDA announced three new broadband grants.  In Arkansas, the USDA will invest $11.8 million to allow three providers to offer broadband service in unserved and underserved rural areas in Arkansas.

A task force convened by Idaho Governor Brad Little earlier this year released a report recommending that broadband and high-speed Internet be a strategic and economic priority for the state and that solutions remain technology neutral.
