October is National Cyber Security Awareness Month

Week 3:  October 16-20 – Theme: Today’s Predictions for Tomorrow’s Internet

Smart cities, connected devices, digitized records, as well as smart cars and homes have become a new reality. Week 3 will remind citizens that their sensitive, personal information is the fuel that makes smart devices work. While there are tremendous benefits of this technology, it is critical to understand how to use these cutting-edge innovations in safe and secure ways.

FCC Procedures For ILEC Access Tariff Revisions To Implement New Productivity Factor

The FCC established the procedures price cap ILECs must use for filing of access charge tariff revisions and Tariff Review Plans (TRPs) to implement the new productivity offset (or X-factor) adopted in the FCC’s Business Data Services Order.  The Order also makes available revised TRP worksheets to support any necessary rate revisions reflected in price cap ILEC business data (or special access) tariffs.  The TRP worksheets display basic data on rate development in a consistent manner, thereby facilitating review of the rate revisions by the FCC and interested parties.  The Order sets an effective date of December 1, 2017, for tariff filings made on 15 days’ notice and a modified effective date of December 4, 2017, for tariff filings made on 7 days’ notice.  The specific filing deadlines are as follows:

DOJ Request For NRUF Reports And LNP Data

The FCC announced that the Department of Justice’s Antitrust Division has requested access to information contained in the Numbering Resource Utilization and Forecast (NRUF) report filed with the FCC by wireless telecommunications carriers from December 2015 through the present, by carrier and by rate center.  The DOJ also requested local number portability (LNP) data in the FCC’s possession related to wireless telecommunications carriers, by carrier and by rate center, from January 2016 to the present.  The information will be used to monitor competition in the mobile wireless industry and prepare for future antitrust investigations.  Affected parties have until October 24, 2017, to oppose disclosure of NRUF and LNP data to the DOJ.
