When I was 10, my dad's dream of owning a place in the country came true when we moved to Christmas, FL. Yes, the name of the town is really Christmas, and it is located about 20 miles east of Orlando. It rarely snows, but festive nonetheless with Santa Claus and a decorated tree that remains year round. This time of year is bustling with activity as people come from miles around to the post office to have their holiday cards postmarked "Christmas, FL."The community was originally called Fort Christmas, named after the fort built around Christmas time in 1837 during the Seminole Indian War. A replica stands on a 25-acre park, a fun place to visit and picnic with the family.
On August 30th, the Illinois Attorney General filed a lawsuit against a telecommunications company for allegedly switching several consumers' long distance providers without the proper authorization, a practice commonly known as "slamming."

ILECs made their annual access filings with the FCC this week, to be effective July 2, 2013. While no changes were made to traffic sensitive rate elements, watch for an update to our Switched Access Study to reflect PICC revisions in certain CenturyLink, Frontier, and Verizon areas. Also, the Study will be updated to reflect an increase to the access order charge in CenturyLink (former Embarq) territory.
TMI is closely monitoring the wave of switched access tariff filings that implement the second phase of the FCC’s ICC/USF Reform. So far, we have ILEC filings in 20
states. Our in-house team is continuously busy tracking filings across all jurisdictions and at the FCC.
