Rural Call Completion Workshop

Verizon is hosting a rural call completion workshop on March 29, 2017 at the National Press Club.  Persons interested in attending should register by March 15 at ruralcallcompletionworkshop@verizon.com and provide their name, title, accompany and email address.  The workshop will include an overview and discussion of investigative activities into rural call completion issues and a presentation by Dr. Eric Burger of Georgetown on the results of research into rural call completion issues.

FCC Urban Rates Survey

The FCC’s Wireline Competition Bureau announced the results of the 2017 urban rate survey for fixed voice and broadband services.  The Bureau also: (1) set the 2017 rate floor for ILEC eligible telecommunications carriers (ETCs); (2) set the reasonable comparability benchmarks for fixed voice and broadband services receiving high-cost or Connect America Fund support; (3) announced the posting of the fixed voice and broadband services data collected in the most recent urban rate survey; and (4) announced the required minimum usage allowance for ETCs subject to public interest obligations for fixed broadband.
