FCC Guidance on CMRS Provider E911 Location Accuracy Deadlines

The FCC’s Public Safety and Homeland Security Bureau issued a Public Notice reminding facilities-based CMRS providers of up-coming due dates in connection with the FCC’s three-year E911 location accuracy benchmark.  Inteserra Briefing Service subscribers see Briefing dated 2/24/15.  The three-year benchmark requires CMRS providers to provide, as of April 3, 2018, dispatchable location or x/y location (latitude and longitude) within 50 meters for 50% all wireless 911 calls.  CMRS providers must certify compliance with this benchmark no later than June 4, 2018. The FCC provides specific filing instructions as well as reminders for additional location accuracy deadlines for the remainder of 2018.

Vermont Stays Phase II VoIP Proceeding

The Vermont Public Utility Commission (PUC) has issued an order granting a stay of the proceeding investigating the regulation of VoIP services.  The PUC agreed that a stay of the investigation was appropriate because a motion for reconsideration of its earlier order finding that VoIP is a telecommunications service is pending.  The PUC also released a notice cancelling the prehearing conference that was scheduled for April 9, 2018.  Inteserra Briefing Service subscribers see Briefing dated 4/3/2018.
