FCC Mobility Fund Phase II Comment Extension

The FCC extended the deadline for filing comments and reply comments deadlines in the Mobility Fund Phase II (MF-II) Further Notice of Proposed Rulemaking.  Comments regarding the challenge process involving areas that will be eligible for MF-II support are now due April 26, 2017, and reply comments are due May 11, 2017.  The FCC also extended by 14 days the deadline for interested service providers to file justifications for confidential treatment of their previously filed Form 477 minimum advertised or expected speeds for 4G LTE mobile service, until April 26, 2017.

Federal Trade Commission Identity Theft Conference

On May 24, 2017, the FTC will host an all-day conference to take a comprehensive look at how identity theft has evolved over the last decade and what can be done to address this challenge in the future.  Click here for more details.

Tennessee Commission Name Change

On April 5, 2017, the Governor signed SB 747 renaming the Tennessee Regulatory Authority to be the Public Utility Commission and redesignating directors as commissioners.

Utah Statutory Revisions

A new law in Utah will allow the Public Service Commission to exempt a telecommunications corporation or public telecommunications service from a requirement of the Public Utilities Code after an informal adjudication and without a hearing under certain circumstances.  Specifically, the new law allows the PSC to waive the requirement that a formal hearing be held if: (1) the matter is not a general rate proceedings to establish rates for public utilities which have annual revenues generated from Utah utility service in excess of $200,000,000; (2) the party filing the application requests an informal adjudication; and (3) no party opposes the request for informal adjudication before 10 business days after the day on which the request is filed.
