FCC ICS Providers Annual Reports

The FCC’s Wireline Competition Bureau (Bureau) announced that providers of inmate calling services (ICS) may file their annual reporting confidential information pursuant to the Protective Order previously adopted in WC Docket No. 12-375.  A copy of the Protective Order may be found here.  An ICS provider seeking confidential treatment of any part of its annual report must file both confidential and redacted copies of the annual report.  Only those specific aspects of the reports that are confidential should be redacted from the public version of the filing.  See full text of the FCC’s Public Notice for more filing details

FCC Commissioner Clyburn Addresses 2017 Wireless Infrastructure Show

FCC Commissioner Mignon Clyburn addressed the Wireless Infrastructure Show held in Orlando, FL on May 24, 2017.  In speaking about recent FCC actions, Commission Clyburn said that affordable access to an open internet is vital.  “There should not be internet fast lanes reserved for the few who are willing and able to pay, nor preferences shown to those with business relationships with a provider.  And the 2015 Open Internet Order reflects a long standing commitment shared by millions of Americans to protect a platform that inspires innovation and entrepreneurship, fosters freedom of speech and expression, and stimulates incentives for investment.”  Click on the link above to read the full text of Commissioner Clyburn’s comments. 

FCC Wireless Broadband Deployment Webinar

The FCC’s Wireless Telecommunications Bureau (WTB) will conduct a webinar for small businesses on a recently-adopted Notice of Proposed Rulemaking and Notice of Inquiry entitled Accelerating Wireless Broadband Deployment by Removing Barriers to Infrastructure Investment (NPRM/NOI).  The webinar will be conducted by WTB and the Office of Communications Business Opportunities and held at 2:00 pm EDT on May 31, 2017.  See the Regulatory Mix dated 5/15/17.

Illinois TRS Rule Amendments Approved

The Illinois Commerce Commission approved the final revisions of the Telecommunications Relay Services (TRS) rules (83 Ill. Adm. Code 756).  They require each local exchange carrier, Interconnected VoIP provider, and wireless carrier to fund the TRS. TMI Briefing Service subscribers see Briefing dated 5/24/17.
