Colorado Tariff Rules Become Effective

The PUC’s revised rules implementing 2014 telecom reform legislation which reclassified virtually all telecommunications services as Part 4 services (exempt from regulation) become effective 9/1/17.  The PUC notified all telecommunications providers that all tariffs currently on file with the PUC that contain only the rates, terms, and conditions for Part 4 services are no longer subject to tariffing requirements and will be deemed null and void by operation of law.

FCC 2017 Accessibility Innovations Expo

The FCC’s Consumer and Governmental Affairs Bureau and Connect2Health FCC Task Force seeks exhibitors for the Accessibility Innovations Expo to be held on Monday, October 23, 2017, in Washington, D.C.  The Accessibility Innovations Expo will feature outstanding technologies – created in the private and public sectors by innovators, entrepreneurs, technology companies, organizations, and academics – that advance accessibility for people with disabilities. The Expo, which will be open to the public, will provide a platform for showcasing innovative technologies that impact the daily lives of consumers with disabilities and focus on next-generation innovations and breakthroughs for users of all abilities. In the health arena, the event will demonstrate cutting edge broadband-enabled solutions that advance the ability of persons with disabilities to fully benefit from the connected health revolution.

 

FCC To Re-charter NANC

The FCC announced that it plans to re-charter the North American Numbering Council (NANC).  Prior Councils have provided advice and recommendations to the FCC regarding the administration of the North American Numbering Plan (NANP).  The FCC said this new, revitalized NANC will continue this important work, but also will provide critical guidance to ensure that our numbering system evolves with 21st century technologies and services.  The new NANC will advise the FCC on numbering matters of importance both to consumers and industry.  It will provide recommendations on numbering policy and technical issues with a focus on examining numbering in the changing world of communications.  The Public Notice seeks nominations for membership on the Council, which must be submitted to the FCC no later than September 8, 2017. Procedures for submitting nominations are set out in the Public Notice.
