National Cyber Security Awareness (NCSAM), the annual campaign and combined efforts between private industry and public agencies, was created to enable companies and individuals to make better, smarter cybersecurity choices. Week 2: October 9-13 – Theme: Cybersecurity in the Workplace is Everyone’s Business
Creating a culture of cybersecurity is critical for all organizations ‒ large and small businesses, academic institutions, non-profits, and government agencies – and must be a shared responsibility among all employees. Week 2 will showcase how organizations can protect against the most common cyber threats. The week will also look at resources to help organizations strengthen their cyber resilience, including the use of the National Institute of Standards and Technology Cybersecurity Framework.
FCC Advances Up To $76.9 Million To Restore Communications Networks In Puerto Rico And U.S. Virgin Islands
Responding to the destruction of communications networks wreaked by Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands, the FCC voted to immediately provide carriers with up to seven-months’ worth of support from the FCC’s Universal Service Fund. These funds may be used to repair telecommunications infrastructure and restore service to customers across the islands. Press Release & FCC Order
Maine Copper Retirement Notice
On September 20 & 22, 2017, Northern New England Telephone Operations LLC d/b/a FairPoint Communications-NNE filed notice of its intent to retire its copper facilities in several locations. Any interested person may file comments on the retirement in Docket No. 2017-00263 on or before 4:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 11, 2017.
