FCC Extends Reliability Certification Deadline

The FCC issued a Public Notice announcing  the extension of the deadline for filing annual 911 reliability certifications for Covered 911 Service Providers.  The FCC recognized that Hurricanes Harvey, Irma, and Maria have caused significant damage in the areas within their respective paths and is therefore extending the deadline for filing annual reliability certifications from October 15, 2017, to October 30, 2017.  Covered 911 Service Providers should file certifications with the 911 Reliability Certification System using the Commission’s online portal at https://apps2.fcc.gov/rcs911/.

 

FirstNet State Plans Delivered to Governors

The First Responder Network Authority (FirstNet) delivered refined State Plans to Governors who will have 90 days – until 12/28/17 – to decide whether to accept the FirstNet/AT&T plan or initiate the process to have the state take on the responsibility for deploying its own Radio Access Network (RAN) that must be interoperable with the FirstNet network.  In June 2017 FirstNet delivered initially released build-out plans, which were accepted by 24 states and territories.  If a state does not take any action on its updated State Plan by 12/28/17, the state will automatically opt in to the FirstNet network. 

 

California To Host Prehearing Conference On Relief For 909 NPA

The PUC has set a telephonic prehearing conference to discuss relief for the 909 numbering plan area on October 13, 2017, at 10:00 a.m.  To attend the conference by phone, parties will call in to 877-937-0554.  The Passcode is 7031793.  Questions about the hearing date, time, or place may be addressed by calling the Calendar Clerk at (415) 703-1203.

 

TMI Briefings for Small Cell Wireless ProvidersRhode Island Enacts Small Cell Legislation

The Governor signed the “Rhode Island Small Cell Siting Act,” which specifies how local authorities may regulate the collocation of small wireless facilities and small wireless facility networks.  (GL Title 39 Chapter 32)  The law allows wireless service providers authorized to do business in Rhode Island to collocate small wireless facilities within, along, across, upon, and under any public right-of-way and to construct conduit, cables, and facilities between such small wireless facility and other equipment or services located on or adjacent to the supporting pole or other structure.  See more.
