The_Mix_logo3.pngThe Regulatory Mix, TMI’s daily blog of telecom related regulatory activities, is a snapshot of PUC, FCC, legislative, and occasionally court issues that our regulatory monitoring team uncovers each day. Depending on their significance, some items may be the subject of a TMI Briefing.

FCC Procedures for PUC Access to Form 477 Data

The FCC announced modified procedures for state public utility commissions to access non-public FCC Form 477 subscription data for their respective states.  Each commission wishing to access, or to continue to access, shared data for its state must execute an updated data-sharing letter of agreement.  A copy of the letter of agreement is attached to the Public Notice.  The new letter of agreement and procedures are the result of the Bureau’s modernization of the secure online repository for the shared data.  Data from Form 477 collections from 2014 onward will be available at the new data repository.

FCC LNP Transition Outreach And Education Event

The FCC announced the next Local Number Portability Administrator (LNPA) Transition outreach and education events to be held by Price Waterhouse Coopers, LLP, the Transition Oversight Manager (TOM).  First, TOM will host the 10th LNPA Transition Outreach and Education Plan (TOEP) webcast on October 27, 2016.  These webcasts are designed to keep interested parties informed about the upcoming LNPA transition.  Interested parties may register for the webcast here.  Second, the TOM will make a presentation to the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners (NARUC) Staff Subcommittee on Telecommunications at the NARUC 128th Annual Meeting on November 13, 2016, in La Quinta, California.

FCC Robocall Strike Force

The FCC announced it will host another meeting of the Robocall Strike Force on October 26, 2016.  The event will be open to the public and will be streamed live at www.fcc.gov/live.  FCC Chairman Wheeler and Commissioners Clyburn, Rosenworcel, Pai, and O’Rielly, and AT&T CEO Randall Stephenson, the Chair of the Robocall Strike Force, are expected to make remarks.  The Robocall Strike Force is an industry-led group which has been working for two months to develop comprehensive solutions to prevent, detect, and filter unwanted robocalls.  The Strike Force will report to the FCC on its proposed action plan at the October 26 meeting.
