oThe_Mix_logo3.pngThe Regulatory Mix, TMI’s daily blog of telecom related regulatory activities, is a snapshot of PUC, FCC, legislative, and occasionally court issues that our regulatory monitoring team uncovers each day. Depending on their significance, some items may be the subject of a TMI Briefing.

FCC

          LNPA Transition

           Robcalls

The FCC announced that it will host the first meeting of the Robocall Strike Force on August 19, 2016.  See the Regulatory Mix dated 7/26/16. The Strike Force is an industry-led group that is committed to developing comprehensive solutions to prevent, detect, and filter unwanted robocalls.  The first portion of the meeting will be open to the public.  It is anticipated that Chairman Wheeler, Commissioner Mignon Clyburn, and Strike Force Chairman AT&T CEO Randall Stephenson will make remarks. The public session of the meeting will be streamed live at www.fcc.gov/live.

Alaska

The Regulatory Commission of Alaska has relaxed the tariff filing requirements in Anchorage, Fairbanks, and Juneau (the three competitive local exchange markets).  The new rules allow most retail tariff revisions and special contracts for retail services and rates to become effective immediately without approval of the Commission.  They also remove the requirement for prior customer notice of the change and allow customer notice to be made after implementation via a website posting.  TMI Briefing Service subscribers see Briefing dated 8/11/16.
