The Regulatory Mix, TMI’s daily blog of regulatory activities, is a snapshot of PUC, FCC, legislative, and occasionally court, issues that our regulatory monitoring team uncovers each day. Depending on their significance, some items may be the subject of a TMI Regulatory Bulletin.

 

TELECOM

 

US Congress

The Senate Judiciary committee has scheduled a hearing on September 17, 2014, entitled “Why Net Neutrality Matters: Protecting Consumers and Competition Through Meaningful Open Internet Rules.”

 

Montana

The PSC announced it will hold an informal roundtable discussion on October 6, 2014, on a petition filed by Ronan Telephone Company and Hot Springs Telephone Company asking the Commission to repeal its Extended Area Service rules. Comments may be filed by September 29, 2014. The petitioners argue that the rules are obsolete and “contribute to an unlevel competitive playing field.”
