Kansas regulation of voipA new law in Kansas will prohibit the regulation of VoIP or IP-enabled service. However, VoIP services will continue to be subject to assessment for the Kansas USF and the Kansas 911 fee. The law does not modify the interconnection rights and obligations established under Kansas law or the Kansas Corporation Commission’s authority to carry out its obligations under the federal Communications Act. The law becomes effective July 1, 2013.
