FirstNet Adds 50,000 Square Miles of LTE Coverage
FirstNet announced that it has increased LTE coverage area for the AT&T network and FirstNet public safety communications platform by more than 50,000 square miles nationwide, covering an additional 1 million individuals. The added LTE coverage is a result of their ongoing network build initiatives to expand and enhance connectivity for consumers and first responders in both urban and rural areas – on both indoor and outdoor sites.

Iowa Declines to Adopt Rate Caps for Inmate Calling Services
The Iowa Utilities Board (Board) has declined to adopt new inmate calling service (ICS) rules, including rate caps. Significantly, the Board found that most companies providing ICS in Iowa qualify as alternative operator service (AOS) companies, which are subject to Board regulation. As such, they must file tariffs with the Board for review and approval, which provides a flexible process to review the terms and costs of service.
