CVAA? FCC Reminds Carriers of Related Compliance Filings

The FCC released a Public Notice reminding service providers and equipment manufacturers of their obligations under the FCC’s disability accessibility rules. By April 1, 2014, covered entities must complete, submit, and maintain the following three pieces of information in the “Recordkeeping Compliance Certification and Contact Information Registry” (RCCCI Registry):

FCC Regulations: Small Entity Compliance Guide

The Twenty-First Century Communications and Video Accessibility Act 2010 (CVAA), according to the FCC website, was "enacted to ensure that persons with disabilities have access to innovative communications technologies of the 21st-century, such as email and text messaging." The act, in general, requires that both providers of and manufacturers of equipment for advanced communications services, " make their products and services accessible to and usable by persons with disabilities."
 
The Small Entity Compliance Guide provides detailed guidance for small entities who need to be in compliance with, or are seeking to claim temporary exemption from, the CVAA.
