FCC Robocall Webinar

The FCC announced it will host a webinar on how to deal with robocalls on December 14, 2016, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.  The webinar, which is intended for consumers, will provide information about consumers’ rights and the steps they can take to prevent robocalls.  The Session will explain the FCC’s role in addressing this issue and the steps consumers can take to protect themselves from and/or decrease the amount of robocalls they receive. A detailed agenda will be released in advance of the event.  Consumers can participate by WebEx or conference call.

 

FCC ICS Rates

In the wake of the Court Order staying the FCC’s new inmate calling service rates See the Regulatory Mix dated 11/1/16, the FCC issued a Public Notice informing providers and consumers of the applicable rates for ICS.  Specifically, the interim rate caps of $0.21 per minute for debit and prepaid ICS calls and $0.25 per minute for collect ICS calls remain in effect for all interstate ICS calls.  The interim rate caps do not apply to intrastate ICS calls.
