Commissioner Mignon L. Clyburn will conclude her #ConnectingCommunities tour on
10/19/16, with a Policy Forum in the Washington, D.C. area. Topics to be addressed include: Bridging the Affordability Gap; What is 5G?; Combating Inequality in the Communications Sector; Health Care: An Unfinished Chapter of the National Broadband Plan; and The Future of Viewpoint Diversity.
LNP Administrator
The FCC gave final approval to a recommendation that Telcordia Technologies Inc. d/b/a iconectiv serve as the nation’s next Local Number Portability Administrator (LNPA). The FCC found that Telcordia has submitted a Code of Conduct and Voting Trust Agreement ensuring that it will be an impartial LNPA and that Telcordia has effectively engaged in post-selection risk reduction activities to address the evolving cybersecurity threat environment. CTIA
CTIA announced the participating 16 wireless companies that successfully fulfilled the Smartphone Anti-Theft Voluntary Commitment to make anti-theft tools available - for free - on all new smartphones manufactured after July 2016 for sale in the U.S.
According to CTIA, the following network operators, device manufacturers and operating system companies fulfilled part 1 section B of the Commitment: Apple Inc.; Assurant; Asurion; AT&T; Google Inc.; HTC America Inc.; Huawei Device USA, Inc.; LGE Mobile Research U.S.A., LLC; Microsoft Corporation; Motorola Mobility LLC; Samsung Electronics America, Inc.; Sprint Corporation; T-Mobile USA; U.S. Cellular; Verizon and ZTE USA Inc.
South Carolina
The PUC has established deadlines in connection with its consideration of a petition asking it to require interconnected VoIP providers to contribute to the South Carolina Universal Service Fund (SCUSF) on a perspective basis.
