The Regulatory Mix - Tuesday, September 6, 2016

Written by Amy Gross | 9/6/16 6:15 PM

The Regulatory Mix, TMI’s daily blog of telecom related regulatory activities, is a snapshot of PUC, FCC, legislative, and occasionally court issues that our regulatory monitoring team uncovers each day. Depending on their significance, some items may be the subject of a TMI Briefing.

FCC New Application Fees

The FCC announced new application fees effective August 30, 3016.  Federal law requires cost-of-living adjustments to the FCC’s application fee schedule every two years. The new Schedule of Application Fees reflects the net change in the CPI-U of 1.8 percent, calculated from October 2013 through October 2015.  Copies of all fee filing guides for each of the Bureaus/Offices that have fee able services may be obtained here.  All revenues generated by Section 8 Application Fees are deposited in the General Fund of the United States Treasury.

FCC Regulatory Fees

The FCC released the final Fiscal Year 2016 regulatory fees and announced that its automated filing and payment system (Fee Filer) is now open for payment of those fees.  Fees must be received by the FCC no later than 11:59 PM, Eastern Daylight Time, on September 27, 2016.

Indiana Mandatory 10-Digit Dialing

The Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission has extended the deadline for the start of mandatory 10-digit dialing in the 317 NPA from September 17, 2016, to October 15, 2016.  The Commission found that this would adequately balance the needs of alarm companies for additional time to prepare for the mandatory 10-digit dialing with the limited numbering resources available for the 317 NPA and its impending 4th Quarter 2016 exhaust date.  The Order was effective when issued on August 31, 2016.
