FCC Supplier Diversity Workshop
The FCC announced it will host a one-day supplier diversity workshop for small, minority-owned, women-owned and other diverse businesses on June 4, 2018. The workshop will teach small business entrepreneurs how to navigate corporate supplier diversity programs; identify successful strategies utilized by diverse entrepreneurs who do business with corporate entities; and enable one-on-one networking between participating firms and workshop participants to increase awareness about the expectations of procurement managers responsible for goods and services contracting. Workshop presentations and one-on-one consulting will be provided by representatives from various industry sectors, including voice, video and data providers, Internet Service Providers, cable operators, broadcasters, public sector agencies, and tech companies.
Michigan Seeks Comment on IP-Based 911 Providers
The Michigan Public Service Commission (PSC) is seeking comment on which costs should be reimbursed for Internet Protocol-based (IP-based) 911 service providers. Costs can include the transport, routing, or delivery of wireless emergency services to Public Safety Answering Points (PSAPs). Comments are due May 18, 2018 with reply comments due by June 18, 2018. Since 2018 PA 51 was recently enacted and directed the PSC to determine the cost categories for all IP-based 911 service providers, the PSC took up this action. Virginia Seeks Comment on Changes To E-911 Rules
The State Corporation Commission (SCC) of Virginia is seeking comment on proposed changes to its enhanced 911 (E-911) rules. The proposed rules include: changes to Local Exchange Carrier (LEC) duties to Public Safety Answering Points (PSAP); new outage reporting requirements for LECs; and changes to duties of LECs that provide E-911 services.
