Today's Regulatory Mix: FCC Acting Chairwoman Rosenworcel Commends Progress in 3.5 GHz Band Spectrum Sharing Regime, FCC to Hold Open Meeting March 17, 2021, USAC Election Window Open for EBBP
Federal Communications Commission Acting Chairwoman Jessica Rosenworcel applauded continued progress on the innovative sharing regime used in the 3.5 GHz band. This structure, established in 2015, allows for licensed and opportunistic commercial use of this mid-band spectrum while carefully protecting longstanding operations by the Department of Defense.
“It is exciting to see the rapid rise of the FCC’s Citizens Broadband Radio Service," said Acting Chairwoman Rosenworcel. “We are making history with this innovative band. The growing CBRS ecosystem is now supported by six competitive spectrum access database administrators. This is exciting for consumers, providers, and the future of spectrum policy.”
The Federal Communications Commission will hold an Open Meeting on Wednesday, March 17, 2021, which is scheduled to commence at 10:30 a.m. Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic and related agency telework and headquarters access policies, this meeting will be in a wholly electronic format and will be open to the public on the Internet via live feed from the FCC’s web page at www.fcc.gov/live and on the FCC’s YouTube channel.

Service providers who wish to participate the Emergency Broadband Benefit Program (EBBP) may submit their election notices with USAC beginning today, March 11. Service providers who are not eligible telecommunications carriers (ETCs) must apply for and receive FCC approvalto participate in the EBB Program before submitting their election to USAC. To submit an election notice, USAC instructs service providers to complete the EBBP Election Form and submit it with all required documentation to USAC at EBBElection@usac.org.
