The Regulatory Mix, TMI’s daily blog of telecom related regulatory activities, is a snapshot of PUC, FCC, legislative, and occasionally court issues that our regulatory monitoring team uncovers each day. Depending on their significance, some items may be the subject of a TMI Briefing.

FCC Seeks Comment on Lifeline Waiver

The FCC is seeking comment on a Petition for Waiver of its new Lifeline eligibility requirements in states that have inconsistent eligibility criteria.  Specifically, the Petition asks the FCC to waive its new eligibility criteria and those sections of its April 2016 Order that prohibit Lifeline providers from continuing to enroll consumers in the federal Lifeline program based on state-specific program and income eligibility criteria. Nebraska NTAP

The Public Service Commission of Nebraska revised the eligibility requirements for the Nebraska Telephone Assistance Program (NTAP) to match changes recently adopted at the federal level. In addition, the PSC is seeking  comment on the provision of supplemental support on standalone BIAS Lifeline service going forward.  TMI Briefing Service subscribers see Briefing dated 10/19/16.
