FCC Extends Comment Date on Part of ICC Reform Proceeding

The FCC extended the date for filing reply comments in response to its invitation to update the record on issues raised in the Further Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (FNPRM) portion of its intercarrier compensation (ICC) reform proceeding as they relate to proper transition for the remaining access rate elements.  Reply comments are now due November 20, 2017.  They had been due November 13, 2017.  The extension of time was granted in response to a request filed by USTelecom.

FCC Seeks Comment On Verizon Waiver

The FCC is seeking comment on Verizon’s petition for a limited waiver of the FCC’s rules prohibiting tariffs from referencing other tariff publications.  Specifically, Verizon requests a waiver of Rule 61.74(a) when one of Verizon’s FCC tariffs references another of Verizon’s FCC tariffs.  Verizon claims that by requiring Verizon to obtain special permission before referencing one of its own tariffs compels it to “telegraph upcoming filings, which can impeded and delay our ability to respond in the marketplace.”  Comments are due December 11, 2017; reply comments are due January 10, 2018.

FTC/FCC Webinar: ‘TIS THE SEASON TO BE JOLLY AND SAFE

The FCC’s Consumer and Government Affairs Bureau (CGB) and the Federal Trade Commission’s Bureau of Consumer Protection will host a webinar on December 4, 2017, offering important safety tips for the holiday season.  The webinar will provide consumer protection information on topics including: robocalls and spoofing; protecting your mobile device; unwanted charges on your phone bill such as roaming; public wi-fi security tips; privacy issues associated with using mobile devices and apps; and giving to charities.
