Open Meeting
The FCC released the agenda for its May 25, 2016, Open Meeting. The items are as follows:
The FCC will also consider a consent agenda consisting of one media item and five enforcement items. No details provided on the specific enforcement items.
LNPA Transition
The FCC’s Wireline Competition Bureau announced two upcoming Local Number Portability Administrator (LNPA) Transition outreach and education events to be held by PriceWaterhouseCoopers, LLP, the Transition Oversight Manager (TOM). All stakeholders with an interest in the transition are encouraged to participate.
On May 25, 2016, TOM will host the fifth LNPA Transition Outreach and Education Plan (TOEP) webcast. The webcasts are designed to provide transparent communications regarding the LNPA Transition; serve as an open forum to gather and understand needs and concerns; and, incorporate feedback to improve future communications. Interested parties can register here. On June 13 and 14, 2016, the TOM will offer an opportunity for stakeholders to connect at an in-person event and share perspectives and ask questions about the LNPA Transition in an informal manner. The event will be held at the Marriott Indianapolis Downtown hotel adjacent to the National Emergency Number Association Conference. This session does not require registration or a specific appointment. Interested persons may contact the TOM with any questions or preference for a particular time to meet.
New Hampshire
The PUC announced that New Hampshire will remain a single area code state for a while longer. Recent projections received from the North American Numbering Plan Administrator, or NANPA, indicate New Hampshire’s 603 area code has enough available numbers to allow the state to remain a single area code state until 2032.
